Home - plan your visit - Visitor information - Accessiblity
The Rembrandt House Museum strives to provide maximum accessibility for all visitors. However, Rembrandt’s historic house has many narrow and steep stairs and no elevator.
The museum is partially accessible to visitors who use a wheelchair and/or people with reduced mobility. There are various facilities in the museum for visitors with visual and/or hearing impairments.
Prams and buggies are not permitted. Prams can be left in the cloakroom or in a specially designated area at the entrance. Small children can be carried in your arms or on your stomach.
Elevator
The elevator provides access to the modern wing of the museum. This includes the entrance area, -1 museum shop, toilets, cloakroom, 1 temporary exhibition room, 2 temporary exhibition rooms, 3 temporary exhibition rooms, 4 workshop rooms. Unfortunately, Rembrandt’s house is not accessible by elevator. There are many narrow and steep stairs. Please take this into account during your visit.
Assistance dogs
The museum is accessible to visitors with a guide dog or a (SOHO) assistance dog. However, please note that the many stairs may not be suitable for every assistance dog. You may be asked to show a valid certificate for the assistance dog.
Companion
Any companion has free admission.
For visitors with a hearing impairment, the text of the regular multimedia tour is available on paper.
Toilets
The museum has a gender-inclusive toilet, a women’s toilet, a men’s toilet, as well as a toilet for wheelchair users.
Refreshments
To protect the artworks, drinking is not allowed inside of the museum. We therefore ask you to consume refreshments outside the museum. There are plenty of places to sit and nice restaurants around the museum, such as Café Restaurant Orff, Tisfris, and de Rembrandt Corner.
