The house in which Rembrandt lived and worked

Rembrandt’s house takes you back to the 17th century. Each room tells a different story and played its own role in Rembrandt’s life. Discover them here in preparation for your visit to the Rembrandt House Museum.

Keucken

In Rembrandt’s kitchen, you used to find the maid, who cleaned and cooked the meals.

Voorhuys

The entrance hall was used as the shop. Rembrandt sold not only his own work here, but also that of other painters.

Sijdelcaemer

This is where Rembrandt received his visitors, such as clients who wanted to have their portrait painted.

Sael

Rembrandt’s living room was the family’s private domain. Saskia and Rembrandt sat by the fire and slept in the box bed.

Print Room

The Rembrandt House Museum has one of the largest collections of Rembrandt etchings in the world. In the Print Room, you will always find a few of his original etchings.

The Big Atelier

This is Rembrandt’s studio, where he created his paintings. It was the ideal space for a studio because it gets a lot of light.

Kunstcaemer

Rembrandt was an avid collector. And this room was his private museum. Here you will find taxidermy animals, shells, daggers and other unusual objects from all over the world.

The Pupil's Atelier

Rembrandt was a master painter and taught pupils such as Ferdinand Bol and Samuel van Hoogstraten, here in their own studio.

Etching Atelier
