Accessibility

The Rembrandt House Museum strives for maximum accessibility for all visitors. However, Rembrandt’s historic house has many narrow and steep stairs and no elevator.

The museum is partly accessible to visitors who use wheelchairs and/or have mobility impairments. There are several facilities in the museum for visitors who are visually and/or hearing impaired.

Strollers and buggies are not allowed. Strollers can be left in the cloakroom or a dedicated area at the entrance. Small children can be carried on the arm or on the stomach.

Elevator
The elevator provides access to the modern wing of the museum. This includes the entrance area, -1 museum shop, restrooms, checkroom, 1 exhibition gallery, 2 exhibition gallery, 3 exhibition gallery, 4 workshop space. Unfortunately, Rembrandt’s old home is not accessible by elevator. There are many steep stairs. Please consider this in planning your visit.

Assistance dogs
The museum is accessible to visitors with guide or assistance dogs. However, please note that the many stairs may not be suitable for every assistance dog. You may be asked for a valid certificate for the assistance dog.

Companion
Any accompanying person has free admission.

For visitors with hearing impairments, the text of the regular multimedia tour is available on paper.

Toilets
A gender-neutral restroom, women’s and men’s restrooms, and a wheelchair accessible restroom are available in the museum.

Consumptions
We ask you to leave refreshments outside of the museum. There are plenty of seats and nice restaurants around the museum, such as Café Restaurant Orff, Tisfris, and the Rembrandt Corner.
