Museum Rembrandthuis x Smib
On Saturday, November 1st, we will open our doors especially for Museumnacht. Between 19.00 and 02.00 you can experience a special evening in the Rembrandt House Museum, in collaboration with art-collective Smib. There will be a lot to discover, do, and enjoy! Check out all the activities below:
Open Studio with Pris Roos
19.00 – 02.00 | Location: Open Studio
Meet the contemporary artist Pris Roos in our Open Studio! This fall, artist Pris Roos will be present in the Open Studio. Two days a week she will be creating art, live in the museum. As part of the exhibition THUIS. The feeling of home in contemporary art, she will build a large-scale installation: a new home made of recycled cardboard and pastels. Each room focuses on the personal story of a single individual.
Free STËLZ Happy Hour
19.00 – 20.00 | Location: the foyer
Who doesn’t like STËLZ? To kick off the evening in style, enjoy a free customized can of STËLZ in the foyer from 19.00 to 20.00, completely in Rembrandt House Museum x Smib Museum Night style.
Etchingworkshop with GRGY
19.00 – 01.00 | Location: the Fourth floor
Do you, like Rembrandt, dare to experiment with different techniques? During Museumnacht you can create your own etching masterpiece! Print your etching on the large etching press and take it home afterwards.
Cap or No Cap Quiz
19.00 – 01.00 | Location: the etching attic
Is it true or not? Walk through the museum and learn about Rembrandt, his story, and life in the 17th century. Afterwards, you can take part in the “Cap or No Cap” quiz to test your knowledge. If you win the quiz, you will receive the exclusive Rembrandt House Museum x Smib Museum Night cap!
Stories in the museum
19.00 – 02.00 | Location: various locations in the museum
Come and listen to the many stories about Rembrandt’s life in the place where he lived for 19 years. Joys and sorrows went hand in hand here. Museum teachers will tell these stories at various locations throughout the museum.
Paintmaking demonstration
19.00 – 02.00 | Location: the big atelier
Rembrandt and his pupils made their own paint. But what pigments and oils did they use? In the museum, you can learn more about Rembrandt’s process of making paint during Museum Night. Our museum teacher will tell you all about the different pigments and shades that Rembrandt did (and didn’t) use.
Live music by Sophie van Harten
20.00 – 21.00 | Location: the basement
Accompanied by a guitarist, you can enjoy Sophie van Harten’s singing talents in the basement.
DJ Set by LRRY
23.00 – 02.00 | Location: the basement
From 23.00 onwards you can dance to the best tunes during LRRY’s DJ set, which features a mix of Ghetto House, Bass, Electro, and Jersey Club music.
