A Rembrandt-inspired star dinner at the highest level!
Heavenly Rembrandt is a unique concept where Rembrandt is central both culinary and culturally. Just once a year the opportunity is given to enjoy a star dinner, surrounded by works from Holland’s most famous painter, with breathtaking views.
On the 28th, 29th, 30th of September and 1st October 2016 the Rembrandt Tower Boardroom is transformed into a temporary cultural restaurant. You can then enjoy a 5-course dinner amongst works by Rembrandt at the highest point in Amsterdam.
Every year a team of star chefs compose a menu based on the paintings, etchings and landscapes of Rembrandt.
The preview in the Rembrandt Tower Boardroom will be inspired by Hercules Segers.
Hercules Segers (1589/90-1633/38) is one of the most intriguing artists of the Golden Age. His idiosyncratic paintings and prints were in his own time highly regarded by fans and artists. Rembrandt owned as many as eight works painted by him. The modern character of his art and its great rarity among connoisseurs Segers has produced an almost mythical status.
The world-famous photographer Marie-Cécile Thijs will also be exhibiting her Rembrandt-inspired photographic portraits. Her work, some of which has recently been purchased by the Rijksmuseum, is a new, contemporary take on the work of the old masters.
Figurehead from the young generation of top chefs, Joris Bijdendijk (Rijks Restaurant) and Luc Kusters (Bolenius) will design and create a unique five-course menu that relate to the art of Rembrandt and Segers and the Dutch Golden Age.
As of October 7, 2016 the Rijksmuseum and the Rembrandt House Museum each exhibit to this unique landscape artist, Hercules Seghers.
