For a long time, the Chronicle was the magazine of the Rembrandt House Museum. Founded in 1947 – now almost 75 years ago – it initially functioned as a bulletin board for the museum with information about exhibitions and acquisitions. But from the 1960s, the Chronicle grew into a scientific art history magazine with articles by renowned Rembrandt connoisseurs. The magazine was published annually and was increasingly thicker and more beautiful, until 2009. After that, two more issues appeared, in 2011 and 2016, after which production came to a standstill. Now we want to restore the tradition. We will publish an issue every year, but in a new form: the Chronicle will be digital. This is not only cheaper – an important argument in these difficult times – but it also makes the articles more accessible to international Rembrandt connoisseurs and enthusiasts.
