Rembrandt Information Centre

The Rembrandt Information Centre (RIC) is located on the fifth floor of the new wing of the Rembrandt House Museum. Here, you will find the answers to questions you might have about Rembrandt and his work. In the library of the RIC you can study, not only using books, but also CD-roms. The RIC is open to visitors on weekdays by appointment.

If you wish to make an appointment, please contact Mr. Jaap van der Veen by telephone (
00-31-20-5200400) or e-mail.

Sumowski archive

Professor Werner Sumowski’s complete archive of photographs is an important part of the Rembrandt Information Centre. This German art historian spent many years researching paintings and drawings by Rembrandt’s pupils and imitators, and gathered together his immense knowledge of the Rembrandt school in a series of standard works. His six-volume Gemälde derRembrandt-Schüler contains a wealth of information. Sumowski also published the ten-volume Drawings of the Rembrandt School dedicated to drawings by Rembrandt’s pupils. Since 1998 Sumowski’s source material for these works—many thousands of photographs and supplementary documentation—has been in the library of the Rembrandt House Museum, where it can be consulted by anyone who is interested.
