Epco Runia (1963) has been appointed Head of the Collection Department at the Rembrandt House Museum. He will take up his post on 14 August 2017 and head the collection department, whose members include Senior Curator David De Witt and Curator Leonore van Sloten. The Head of the Collection Department is also a member of the museum’s management team.
Epco Runia is an art historian who specializes in seventeenth–century Northern Netherlandish art. He began his career at the Rijksmuseum and since 1999 has been working at the Mauritshuis in The Hague, initially as a research assistant, then as a presentation curator, and since 2012 as Head of Education.
Epco Runia has long worked at the interface between collection, presentation and education. This combination, in conjunction with his knowledge and experience, makes him a very valuable acquisition for the Rembrandt House Museum.
